You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.

The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the son of God."

In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!"

"Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them."

"Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"

And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.

Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.'"

Jesus answered, "It is said: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

Then Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.

Do to others as you would have them do to you.

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Be merciful, just as your father is merciful.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel."

"But what about you?" He asked. "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered "God's Messiah."

"What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?"

As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

Then he said to them, "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest."

He told them "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send workers out into his harvest field."

"All things have been committed to me by my father. No one knows who the son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the son chooses to reveal him."

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

But seek his kingdom, and all these things will be given to you as well.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

“Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last."

For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."

And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn't he leave the ninety-nine in open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

He said to him, "If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead."

Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.

Jesus replied, "What is impossible with man is possible with God."

"Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive."

When these things begin to take place, stand and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

"Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."

Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.

He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."

I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
