Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in His sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
