Now Jesus stood before the governor. “Are you the king of the Jews?” the governor asked him. Jesus answered, “You say so.”

Then he said, "Why? What has he done wrong?" But they kept shouting all the more, "Crucify him!"

Above his head they put up the charge against him in writing: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" that is, "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?"

When the centurion and those with him, who were keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they were terrified and said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!"

He is not here. For he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has risen from the dead and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see him there.' Listen, I have told you."

Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Then the crowds who went ahead of him and those who followed shouted: Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed it he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!

He said to them, "It is written, my house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of thieves!"

As they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take and eat it; this is my body."

For this is the blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Going a little farther, he fell facedown and prayed, "My father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."

Stay awake and pray, so that you won't enter into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

Again, a second time, he went away and prayed, "My father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done."

Then Jesus told him, "Put your sword back in its place because all who take up the sword will perish by the sword."

Or do you think that I cannot call on my Father, and he will provide me here and now with more than twelve legions of angels?

and Peter remembered the words Jesus had spoken, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.
