For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared. He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. So that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified refined seven times.

I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

We did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and He who believes in Me will never be thirsty."

When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep."

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies."

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me, and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

If you love Me, you will obey what I command.

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
